History:
Trapani is situated between the sea and Mount Erice. It was first a small Sicilian village and became a small fortified seaside town founded by the Phoenicians who made of Trapani a trading empire. Over the centuries, the town has undergone several changesbut still maintained its characteristic shape.
Trapani features four sighting towers: Torre Veccia, Torre del Castello di Terra, Torre Pali, Torre di Porta Oscura or Dell'orologio.
Entertainment:
Museo Regionale Pepoli is housed in a 14th century Carmelite convent. It exhibits a collection of paintings and sculptures illustrating the development of the decorative art in Trapani.
